lance water camper trailer service dealer issues quality unit door

Extremely poor after purchase service.

I have a 2016 Lance travel trailer Mod. 2285. During its second use, the front window (above the bed) shattered from stress. I took my unit to Tom's Camperland in Surprise, Az. 4 weeks ago for replacement of the window. I was told a replacement window did arrive but it was broken. That was at least two weeks ago. Today (6/23) I talked to Dave in their service department and they still have not received the replacement window that supposedly had been shipped out on 6/13. This speaks very poorly for Lance customer service. I have already missed out on four weeks of prime camping weather. Totally unacceptable.

Our 2015 **** lost the seal in the front curved window and had to be replaced. At this point I would NOT recommend a Lance.

You buy it for the quality and it's definitely not there.

This is only one of MANY problems we have had. Problems everytime we use it.

Same thing happened to the front window above our bed on the 4th trip with our new 2017 model 1995. Very disappointing!

#1212640

Hi we are waiting for our 2017 **** model to arrive, were told by the dealer ship in Vermontvile New York that that there had not been any incidents with the front window as it was a concern.

@PissedConsumer1212640

Don't believe it! Your dealer may be out of touch with these defective windows. Mine shattered for no apparent reason after I only had the model 1995 for one month.

Lance Camper - Rv Review from Ronan, Montana

Very poor quality. Taking a cross country trip. Leaks, trim, bump out, jacks, door lock. TV bracket put in upside down. Draws under bench do not stay locked in travel. Etc, etc. Once they sell it to you, they forget who you are

Thanks for the head-up! They actually installed the thing upside-

down?

Wow. Very hard to believe they'd have such substandard quality-control.

I may reconsider buying a Lance due to this and some other negative reviews. Looking for an "all-season camper and thought Lance manufactured quality products but now wondering if it's true ...

The Attwood furnace quit working on my first winter trip to AZ (left Denver Dec. 6). It ran ok the first few nights, then quit. My first calls to Lance and the dealer (Kettlesen Denver) got me zero help other than haul it to a dealer. Lance told me that it was not...

Typical Kettlesen...we did our research on the trailer, but not the Dealer, our bad. This is not a Lance review, but a Kettlesen review.

We would not give them the pleasure of our appearance nor or money again. We love our 2295, but the Dealer was less than professional. I'll put in outline form as that is easier to read and write. 1) Salesman excused himself and left the trailer as we were getting ready to make the deal.

2) After 1/2 hour we asked where he was. Answer: He was with a another customer taking a ride in a motorhome. 3) Wife mad, ready to bag the deal, I tell sales manager Wife doesn't want to deal with salesman. Offers us one 12 volt battery to save deal.

4) Sales manager comes and sits with us in the trailer, original salesman shows back up, she leaves, never to return. 5) Salesman and I politely disagree about 2295 black tank capacity. we had done our homework, he hadn't. 6) Make the deal, give them the deposit check drawn on credit union account ($4K) and get appointment to pick trailer up next weekend.

7) A week later we go through the trailer with trailer tech, he doesn't know what's behind the big outside door, hmmm, it's the 2295's outside kitchen. Maybe he should have done his homework before giving us our orientation? They hook trailer up to our truck. We ask for the missing chain for the pin that keeps the TV mount in place.

They will order from Lance for us. One year later...no pin. I find an exact replacement in a coffee can of fasteners in the garage. 8) Orientation complete, go finish paperwork and give them check drawn on credit union account for balance.

Check too large, they want cashier's check, refused to call credit union to verify balance. They disconnected trailer, we went the 50 miles home. 9) Brought them another check, had to listen to more sales pitch about time share campground and other uninteresting dribble. This is our 3rd RV, (they knew that) we didn't need all their newbie owner dialog.

9) Went to get trailer, we were told where it was on the lot, not shown or escorted, and no help hooking up this time. 10) I have done various skilled level repairs to our previous RV's, so thankfully I will never have to set foot on Kettlemen's lot again. If you do not possess these skills, I strongly advise you to purchase elsewhere. 11) They were great to talk to at the RV shows we went to 3 years straight, but on their home turf they suck.

If we wouldn't have been so stuck on the Lance 2295, we would have just told them to "stick it" the first time the salesman abandoned us. Hindsight is 20/20.

We have replaced the flooring and installed TV and Sat radio. Old little generator works every time, it all does!! Great deal would do it again. We love it and it has not had any issues. This is a 10 year old camper that looks good and fills good, good job LANCE Campers.

Brand new 2016 **** toy hauler

I bought a new 2612 lance toy hauler. We have a bad converter a blown fuse in the refer and the vacuume did not work. The place that I bought the trailer from has done an exelant job at replacing and helping me with those issues. Then it rained ( leaks ) I looked on the roof and what a poor job of calking. Once again the place that I bought the trailer from took care of the issue. SHOULD NOT HAVE THAT ISSUE. I contacted Lance just to let them know that who ever is calking the roof does not care and that who ever inspected the trailer does not care. I have not heard back and I do not think I will. Lance does a great job at advertising and marketing. They should learn to make a client not just a sale

Yes, you can experience propane issues at altitude, both with fridges and furnaces. This is not a Lance issue, rather a physics and an appliance supplier issue.

There are certain remedies that can be done to improve combustion; 'derating' for instance.

We've had our Lance 1685 for over a year, with over 10000 miles of travels, including the mountains of CO and NM, with only a couple of niggles. Two of which were not Lance related, rather fittings/appliance supplier related. We did have an issue with drawer construction, which we remedied using a local cabinet maker and Lance paid for the repair.

We really like our Lance and never regretted the purchase.

All that aside, we are sorry to hear of your issues. We gave our unit a very thorough Pre-delivery inspection and our dealer, Ancira RV Boerne TX, has been nothing but very supportive and responsive to our issues and concerns.

If your dealer does not step up, call the Lance Factory and tell them your issues.

I own a 2015 **** and had several problems with the rig. The main issue was water leaking in around the main skylight.

I discovered the flat roof wasn't flat but concaved causing water to pool around the sky light. This added to a poor caulking job allowed water to leak into the ceiling. The dealer re-caulked but I knew it was a matter of time before the caulk would leak again. I drove to Lancaster from Washington State to get several other issues fixed and talked with their engineer about the design flaw.

They said it wasn't designed wrong but made a beam to go across my ceiling which put a crown in the roof to force the water off. It appears to be working after 2 years.

Fix all problems including body damage at awning contact due to lack of reinforcement. Extend manufacturers warrantee for another year. As a show of good faith, repair or replace the awning (which I damaged.)

Just purchased a used lane camper

We love to cook in our rig. The range vent is the worst noise maker ever. It doesn't exhaust smoke, orders or steam either. Any ideas? There is a fantastic over the stove but the grease goes up the wall. When we first bought the camper we had to scrub our fingers off to clean off the trail of grease and dirt. Why can't anyone make a decent range hood ex hanse fan? The light is poor too. We've had to replace the 10 watt iincandescent blub 3 times at $4.89 a crack. Please help me out folks. Most appreciated.

re: your exhaust vent--the vent flapper outside is shipped in the locked position. you have to physically pry it open from it's notches and it will work from then on. good luck

#1206859

if you are producing that much grease, just imagine what it is doing to your arteries ! good luck re-selling that unit.

#1200363

We bought a used Sunline TC last year and found the same issue with the exhaust fan. Made a lot of noise, did nothing.

Walking around the unit outside I discovered the flapper valve that prevents wind blowing back in through the vent was locked closed by two small plastic thumb tabs, probably for travel or storage. End of problem.

Light didn't work: bulb was good, wriggled bulb in socket, works ok for now. Chickensxxx engineering/cost cutting.

#1149943

No response from OP? People jump to conclusions without thoroughly investigating the problem.

I bet that outside vent is closed.

Complaining about light bulbs? Really?

#1138320

You know that you have to open the vent on the outside of the trailer before using the vent hood?

#1128598

We bought and installed this in our Lance 1885: http://www.rvvent.com/fabulousoperatingproducts.htm

It's certainly not inexpensive or totally silent, but it makes for a much more pleasant experience, sound-wise. The LED light is good and bright too.

#1044876

Go buy led replacement bulbs from Amazon. Cheap and easy fix for poor lighting.

Check to see that you don't have an outside cover over your vent. My casita has one and the vent does not work if it is closed.

If the path to the outside is clear, I would suggest buying a computer muffin fan to replace the stock unit. They move columns more air and are very quiet.

#1019064

My unit has a lock (for travel) over the outside vent cover, preventing flapping. Is yours unlocked?

#1018477

Is your vent flap on the outside opening. Also crack a window for makeup air.
